I used Stephanie’s apricot jam recipe yesterday (before I read your blog)with fruit from my neighbour’s trees, which hangs over my fence (with his permission!) The method is easy to follow, but be careful when fishing jam jars out of boiling water with tongs, like I did -the water ran down the handle and burnt me! Also, she recommends heating the sugar in the oven before adding to the boiled fruit (which I did) - I don’t know why.

I very much enjoy your writing & warm, evocative photos. I have a similar spoon but have never thought about its purpose–a reminder to avoid wasting something as precious as homemade jam!

I have half a jar of this in my fridge (discovered up the back) and the last few weeks i have had it EVERY DAY and i love it dripping down my hands. Yum! APRICOT PIE?
